Great to meet you!

As an LICSW, I am committed to cultivating an empathetic and nonjudgmental relationship with my clients, providing a validating space where they feel empowered and respected so they can explore their feelings, thoughts, and challenges and find a path forward. I believe that deciding to enter therapy is an act of incredible courage. I am a trauma-informed, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral therapist with 37 years of experience providing mental health care, informed by rigorous academic preparation, Adlerian and Gestalt therapy perspectives, and specialized training at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital in New York City. I am a Marine Corps veteran and native New Yorker (The Bronx).

My approach to therapy

My approach is to help clients develop awareness, expand coping skills, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and increase overall stability and functioning. I work best with clients who are open to self-exploration and developing healthy habits, while also understanding that healing and change take time. Our shared goal is to help you find the clarity, strength, determination, and perseverance you need to live an emotionally fulfilling life. We'll identify concerns and obstacles using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, then focus on building practical coping skills and strengthening your inner resolve and resilience. My communication style is supportive, balancing compassion with accountability, consistency, and directness when appropriate. I adapt my communication style to each client's life stage, insight, and comfort. I strive to create a safe environment where clients feel comfortable being open and honest about their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

What you can expect from me

We will chat candidly, review confidentiality and privacy rights, explore your reasons for entering therapy, and determine if my therapeutic approach meets your needs. I will ask questions to learn about your background, identify your goals, and decide how best to move forward at a pace that is comfortable for you.
