Leslie Guerra is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience in acute care at DHR-Behavioral for three years and three years as the lead counselor in an educational setting. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American while juggling a career as an elementary teacher.
Leslie specializes in adults and adolescents with depressive, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders. Leslie has been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing. Leslie aims at providing a welcoming environment in which her patients can feel at ease in sharing any and all information relevant to fostering their emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
Leslie understands that complete well-being involves overcoming obstacles and making changes that are difficult; however, with trust, practice, and dedication, any change is possible. As a first generation, female, Latina, she is devoted to destigmatizing mental health and expanding the reach of resources. Her motto for therapy is “Once you know your ‘why’, your ‘how’ becomes more bearable.” Don’t let the weight of your past or current traumas slow down or affect your present or future.
