Great to meet you!

I’m Leslie Washington, MSW, LCSW, a psychotherapist with more than 25 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges and transitions. I work primarily with women and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma-related stress, caregiver burnout, chronic illness, aging-related concerns, and major life changes. I also have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and families. My background in psychotherapy and behavioral health leadership helps me understand how emotional health, physical health, relationships, and life circumstances can affect overall well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, trauma-informed, and strength-based. I create a calm, respectful space where clients can feel heard without judgment and move at a pace that feels manageable. I draw from evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles, to help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, strengthen coping skills, and build resilience. When appropriate, I may also use creative, art-based, or play-based interventions to support expression and healing.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming conversation focused on getting to know you, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from the process. We will discuss relevant history, current concerns, strengths, and goals while leaving room for your questions. You will not be expected to share more than you feel comfortable. Together, we will begin identifying priorities and discuss a treatment plan that fits your needs, preferences, and pace.
