Great to meet you!

Maybe you've been carrying more than usual lately: worry that won't settle, a loss that still feels heavy, or a hard experience that keeps finding its way into your days. I help people work through anxiety, stress, grief, and trauma, including PTSD. I also support clients facing depression, relationship and family challenges, and questions of identity and culture. I grew up in South Africa and moved to South Carolina as a young adult to compete as a college athlete at Coastal Carolina University. That chapter led me to counseling, and it's why I have a special appreciation for athletes and their mental health. Today, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with seven years of experience and a master's degree in education from Campbell University. When life gets busy, I think of the quiet bushveld sunsets I grew up with, a reminder to slow down and notice the moments that shape us.

My approach to therapy

For me, therapy starts with you feeling safe, heard, and understood. I have specialized training in EMDR and trauma-informed care, and I also draw on CBT, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and skills for handling strong emotions. That means we might gently explore how past experiences are showing up in your life now, notice the thought patterns that keep anxiety or stress going, and practice tools you can actually use between sessions. My style is warm and collaborative. You know your life best, and I'll bring structure, ideas, and steady support. We'll pay attention to your strengths, not only what feels hard, and move at a pace that feels right for you. I believe resilience can grow, even in the toughest seasons.

What you can expect from me

Reaching out for the first time can feel like a big step. Our first session is simply a chance to get to know each other. There's no pressure to share everything at once or to have the "right" words. I'll ask what's bringing you in, what's been weighing on you, and what you'd like to feel different. You're welcome to ask me anything about how I work, and we'll start shaping a plan together that fits you. My hope is that you leave that first conversation feeling a little lighter and clearer about what comes next. Over time, our work is aimed at helping you understand yourself better, build practical ways to cope with stress and anxiety, and feel more steady and hopeful when life gets hard. Whenever you're ready, I'd be glad to meet you!
