Great to meet you!

I’m Lexie Beckstrand, a licensed mental health professional (LPC) in D.C. and Virginia. I graduated from Marymount University in 2020, and have over six years of clinical experience. I completed my residency at Over the Rainbow, LLC- a private practice in the D.C., Maryland, Virginia region which specializes in mental health care for first responders.

I work primarily as an individual therapist for adults. I have worked in partnership with my clients through many stressors, including anxiety, complex grief, depression, Post-Traumatic and Acute Stress, adjustment to significant life-changes, domestic abuse, challenging and/or unhealthy family dynamics, couples issues, exploration of gender and sexuality, and crisis management. I feel strongly about incorporating evidence-based interventions in my practice, and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques as a supplement to my psychodynamic and client-centered approach to therapy.

My approach to therapy

Every client is complex, and unique. With simple tools like patience, non-judgment and curiosity, together we have the ability to untangle and reweave the strands that come together to create the complex and unique self.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want to get to know you. I prefer to complete a comprehensive bio/psycho/social interview. I find that having a solid structure for the beginning of a therapeutic relationship provides a foundation for exploratory work down the road- and it gives us an opportunity to identify some areas for discussion.
