Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Leyla Fonseca, LMHC. At Mental Health Counseling by Leyla, PLLC, I specialize in working with teens and young adults. I have over six years of experience working in special education school settings, where I provided individual therapy and collaborated closely with teachers, service providers, and families. While my background includes extensive work in schools, I currently work primarily with young adults and have significant experience supporting them through anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, academic and career stress, and overall mental health concerns.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic style is client-centered and flexible, grounded in CBT and other evidence-based approaches. I focus on building trust and getting to know each client so we can find the strategies that fit best. I’ve found that patience, empathy, and a bit of appropriate humor help create a safe space where clients can open up.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect a light, welcoming space to share what brings them to counseling and begin identifying goals together. With children and adolescents, this process may take a bit longer, and that’s completely okay. We can use that time to build rapport and get comfortable with one another.
