Great to meet you!

Hi! I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a special interest in helping people grow from their experiences and finding hope through self-discovery and building toward the future. I received a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2011. I have extensive experience with individual and couples counseling methods, as well as working with varied age groups (children, teens, and adults). I have worked with people ranging from the general community, domestic abuse survivors and offenders, active and retired military members, and law enforcement personnel for over a decade. I am a certified trauma-informed counselor with specialty training in trauma counseling methodologies as well as a certified grief counselor.

My approach to therapy

My View on Counseling:

From my over 10 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have seen the immense resilience that people develop from their life experiences. In these experiences, we all pick up skills, behaviors, and habits that worked for us at some point but may not serve us well anymore. Even with emotions and occurrences that are considered negative, we can find a way to use these experiences to choose how they fit into our lives or help us grow.

In counseling, we will walk together on rough roads. We will unpack what you’ve been carrying and decide what is still needed or what can be let go of, as well as how we can adjust the use of your skills to be more effective in your relationships and life. I understand that there may be some things that you do not want to unpack yet, so we can work together on shifting the weight so it can feel more bearable.

My role is to be a part of your journey-to sit with you or walk alongside you during these times of coping, consideration, and change. I will ask you to do some difficult things, such as accept how and where you are now, so that you see how far you’ve already come and then map where you want to go. Your role is to allow me on your journey by being open to exploring your experiences, along with the thoughts and feelings from them, as well as make choices about what you want to do with these discoveries.

What you can expect from me

Throughout our work together, we will set goals in a treatment plan and review them periodically to ensure we are moving at a comfortable pace and positive direction. Sometimes, plans change and that is completely understandable. By checking in on your mile markers, such as the steps you’ve taken and the outcomes you’ve seen in your life, we can make sure the plan is still useful or if we need to adjust. With this, honest feedback is crucial for us to know what direction we’ve gone together in counseling.

My aim is for us to be effective overall in achieving your goals in a mutually respectful and courteous manner. Letting me know how I can help you better helps us keep your journey on track.
