Great to meet you!

Meet Linda Darko, PMHNP-BC

Hi, I'm Linda Darko, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 25 years of nursing experience and a genuine passion for helping people feel like themselves again.

I earned my psychiatric nurse practitioner degree from Herzing University and my nursing administration degree from NYU. Over the past two and a half decades, I've had the privilege of caring for people across every stage of life, and that experience shapes how I practice today: with patience, honesty, and zero judgment.

My practice welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life. I work with both adolescents and adults, and I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and postpartum depression. I take a holistic approach to mental health, which means we're not just talking about symptoms in isolation — I also incorporate sexual health and weight management into care when it's relevant to your overall wellbeing, because I believe mental and physical health are deeply connected.

I know that starting mental health care can feel intimidating, so I keep things laid-back and conversational. My goal is for you to leave our appointments feeling heard, respected, and hopeful — not rushed or judged. Whether you're managing a longstanding condition or just starting to explore what support might look like for you, I'm here to walk through it with you.

My approach to therapy

My style is relaxed and down-to-earth — I want our appointments to feel like a conversation with someone who genuinely cares, not a clinical checklist. I believe you're the expert on your own life, and my role is to bring clinical knowledge and guidance to support the goals you have for yourself. There's no judgment here, just honest, collaborative care.

I take a holistic approach to mental health, which means I look at the whole picture of your wellbeing — not just the symptoms you came in with. That often includes conversations around sleep, lifestyle, sexual health, and weight management, since these areas are so often connected to how we feel mentally and emotionally. If something feels relevant to your care, we'll talk about it.

Areas of focus include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • Postpartum depression
  • Medication management for adolescents and adults

I work with clients across the lifespan, from adolescents to adults, and I welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and communities. Whether you're navigating a new diagnosis, adjusting to life after having a baby, or you've been managing a condition for years and want a fresh perspective, I meet you where you are.

Every treatment plan is individualized. Some clients benefit most from medication management alone; others want that paired with lifestyle changes or referrals to therapy. We'll figure out together what makes sense for you, and I'll adjust as we go based on what's working and what's not.

What you can expect from me

I create a warm, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable being fully honest — about their symptoms, their struggles, and even the things that feel hard to say out loud. There's no pressure to have it all figured out before you walk in. My office (or virtual visit) is a judgment-free zone where you can just show up as you are.

When it comes to goals, I believe in starting where you are and moving at a pace that feels realistic and sustainable. Together, we typically work toward outcomes like:

  • Symptom relief — reducing the intensity or frequency of anxiety, depressive episodes, or ADHD-related struggles so they interfere less with daily life
  • Improved functioning — feeling more capable at work, school, home, or in relationships
  • Stabilization — especially important for postpartum depression, where the goal is often helping you feel like yourself again as quickly and safely as possible
  • Sustainable habits — building routines around sleep, movement, and overall wellness that support long-term mental health, not just quick fixes
  • Confidence in your care plan — making sure you understand your treatment, feel good about your medications (if applicable), and know what to expect moving forward

I check in regularly on how things are progressing, and I'm not afraid to adjust course if something isn't working. Mental health care isn't one-size-fits-all, and what helps one person may not help another — so we stay flexible together.

Above all, I want clients to leave each visit feeling a little lighter, a little more understood, and a little more hopeful than when they walked in.
