Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 20 years of experience in the field. Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations across a wide range of mental health concerns and life experiences. I have extensive experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, stress management, grief and bereavement, trauma, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorders, self-esteem challenges, anger management, alcohol and substance abuse, chronic conditions, cultural and ethnic issues, and women’s issues. I also support clients struggling with co-occurring disorders and the emotional impact that unresolved trauma, unhealthy relationship patterns, and chronic stress can have on overall well-being.

I understand that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when life feels emotionally heavy or difficult to manage alone. Many clients come into therapy feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety, negative thinking, emotional pain, self-doubt, or unhealthy coping patterns. Others may feel disconnected from themselves, struggling to maintain relationships, process grief, or move forward after painful life experiences. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel emotionally safe, heard, respected, and empowered to begin healing at their own pace.

My approach to therapy

“Break old behavior patterns. Challenge negative thinking. Strengthen your relationships. Learn techniques to get you “unstuck” and on the path toward greater insight.” That is my goal for you. I want you to gain the tools that will empower you to make the necessary changes in your thoughts, habits, behaviors, and relationships in order to create a healthier and more fulfilling life. With my direct, yet supportive counseling style, I help clients challenge current obstacles, build emotional awareness, and develop practical coping strategies that support long-term growth and healing.

I believe in taking a holistic approach to therapy by exploring the many areas of life that influence emotional health, including relationships, family dynamics, past experiences, behavioral patterns, cultural experiences, stress levels, and personal beliefs. By looking at the full picture, we can better understand the root causes of emotional distress and create a treatment plan that feels personalized, realistic, and effective for your individual needs and goals.

My therapeutic approach integrates several evidence-based treatment modalities to best support each client’s unique experience. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, panic, and low self-esteem. I also incorporate Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and the Unified Protocol (UP) to help clients improve emotional regulation, manage overwhelming feelings, and build healthier responses to stress and difficult emotions.

What you can expect from me

For clients processing trauma, PTSD, grief, or painful life experiences, I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help reduce emotional distress, process traumatic memories, and create healthier perspectives around past experiences. I also use Narrative Therapy to help clients better understand their personal story, identify strengths, and separate themselves from the problems they may feel defined by.

My work is also rooted in Strength-Based Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which allows clients to recognize their resilience, build confidence, and focus on meaningful progress and achievable goals. Through Motivational Interviewing, I help clients explore ambivalence, strengthen motivation for change, and reconnect with their personal values and sense of direction. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy when appropriate to support healthier communication patterns, strengthen family relationships, and improve emotional understanding within family systems.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel supported while also challenged to grow. Healing is not always linear, and every person’s journey looks different. Whether you are coping with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, substance abuse, emotional overwhelm, or simply feeling stuck in life, therapy can provide the space to gain clarity, insight, and the tools needed to move forward with greater confidence and emotional balance.

Clients can expect their first session to focus on gaining clarity and greater insight into the challenges they are currently facing so that healing can begin. My hope is that each person leaves therapy feeling more understood, more empowered, and more connected to their ability to create meaningful and lasting change.
