As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I specialize in psychiatric medication management and psychopharmacology. My education from Mount Saint Joseph University and advanced psychiatric training from Purdue Global has equipped me with extensive knowledge of psychiatric medications, their mechanisms of action, and evidence-based prescribing practices.

I provide comprehensive medication management for conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, postpartum issues, panic disorders, OCD, and eating disorders. My expertise includes careful medication selection, dose optimization, and ongoing monitoring of therapeutic response. I emphasize precise medication management while considering individual factors such as genetics, metabolism, co-existing conditions, and potential drug interactions.

My approach to medication management involves thorough evaluation of current medications, detailed discussion of treatment options, and close monitoring of medication effectiveness and side effects. I believe in clear communication about medications, ensuring patients understand their prescribed treatments and feel confident in their medication regimen.

Outside of clinical practice, I maintain balance through family time, travel, and fitness – experiences that inform my understanding of how lifestyle factors can impact medication effectiveness.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach is deeply client-centered and collaborative, placing your unique experiences and perspectives at the heart of our work together. I begin by actively listening to understand your specific needs, challenges, and goals, recognizing that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we will co-create a personalized treatment plan utilizing evidence-based therapeutic practices tailored to your individual circumstances.

I prioritize establishing a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect. This foundation creates a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where open dialogue can flourish. I encourage authentic self-expression while honoring your pace and boundaries throughout our journey together.

My holistic approach integrates medication management when appropriate, carefully considering how biological factors interact with psychological and social elements of your well-being. I ensure you're fully informed about all treatment options, empowering you to make decisions that align with your values and goals.

I believe in practical skill-building alongside deeper emotional exploration. You'll gain concrete tools and strategies to navigate challenges, while also developing insight into patterns that may be inhibiting your growth. Regular progress assessments allow us to adapt our approach as needed.

I'll help you develop a new relationship with challenging thoughts and feelings, learning to hold them with compassion while moving toward what matters most to you. My clients often report that beyond symptom relief, they discover a renewed sense of direction and meaning that sustains them through life's inevitable challenges.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients leave our sessions with clearer insights into patterns that may be contributing to their distress or preventing fulfillment. I create a structured yet flexible approach that adapts to individual needs while maintaining focus on established goals. Clients gain practical strategies for managing symptoms that interfere with daily functioning and relationships. Through our collaborative work, individuals develop greater emotional intelligence, recognizing and responding to feelings more effectively. I provide education about the neurobiological aspects of mental health conditions, reducing shame and increasing understanding. Clients learn to distinguish between productive and unproductive worry, allowing for more efficient problem-solving. Our sessions build skills for navigating life transitions and adapting to change with greater resilience. Individuals gain tools for more effective communication of needs and boundaries within important relationships. Throughout treatment, clients develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves, reducing harsh self-judgment. The combination of medication management when needed and therapeutic interventions creates a comprehensive approach that addresses both immediate symptoms and underlying issues for sustainable improvement in quality of life.
