Great to meet you!

My clinical work has focused on marginalized and underserved individuals struggling with severe mental illness, substance use, and trauma. I also have experience with high-functioning, high-achieving individuals. I do the best work with those who wish to develop deeper insights into their selves, and to make adaptive behavior change.

My approach to therapy

We will work collaboratively (with humor, spontaneity, and empathy) to remove obstacles to growth and to promote deep, enduring change. We will focus on increasing awareness, tolerance, and acceptance of difficult emotions, while working toward the greater aim of promoting the true self. My approach to the therapeutic encounter is to embrace the uniqueness of each patient’s inner world, and explore it together.

What you can expect from me

The therapeutic relationship is ever-evolving, and allows you to discover new ways of being in a close relationship through long-standing feelings that are reawakened in therapy. Often this involves slowing down, examining current experiences and stressors, as well as underlying core conflicts. When appropriate, specific coping skills will be provided and tailored to your individualized treatment needs.
