Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Lindsey Smith. I’m married to a veteran of the US Army and we have 3 senior rescue dogs. I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2011 and with my Masters of Science in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 2015 as the valedictorian. During my 3,000 hours as an intern I studied personality disorders, trauma, mood disorders, and became an expert in substance use disorders.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I specialize in Substance use disorders, military trauma, depression, anxiety, and couples counseling. ASAM and CBT certified. Former lead Clinician of Adult Drug Court in SLO County CA. I use a holistic and systemic approach to therapy and believe true healing can happen in the presence of hard work and commitment to the process of change. I have a strengths based approach but utilize several different modalities to achieve the desired outcome of therapy, tailored to each individual client.

What you can expect from our first session

I try to focus on what is working well and teach clients how to incorporate more of that in their daily lives. We also jointly set goals and problem solve issues together. I will help guide you on your journey towards better mental health through a strong therapeutic alliance. I am active, direct, and compassionate.
