Great to meet you!

I consider it an honor and a privilege when a client affords me the opportunity to be a part of their life. It is an awesome responsibility and one that I don’t take lightly. To me, the therapeutic alliance is a key component in effecting change; it is based on warmth, compassion, understanding, honesty, and trust. I will establish a safe place that allows clients to reflect and problem-solve without judgment, a place where they can be themselves. I believe clients are the experts in their lives. They know what they think and feel. My role is to guide them as they uncover behavioral patterns developed because of long-held beliefs and attitudes. Once that is achieved, we can begin the hard but noble work of creating lasting change. My core focus is working with adults, 18+. I assign growth work (as opposed to homework) when appropriate and useful and give lots of information on tools for clients to use during their everyday lives.

My approach to therapy

Every client is unique to me and my support includes unconditional positive regard. My approach is eclectic; centered in cognitive behavioral therapy and other relevant interventions.

Mental health is essential to one's overall well-being and optimal functionality. Understanding how your thoughts impact your feelings and behavior will help you gain further insight into your self-perception and navigate you toward achieving your goals. I'm here to help.

I’ve always had a passion for helping people overcome challenging life circumstances. That passion led me to the study of human behavior in a quest to understand why we do what we do and to become more efficient in fulfilling my life calling. I began my career assessing and counseling through a community counseling organization where I learned the importance of gathering information about clients in order to make accurate assessments and provide the best counseling methods based on their individual needs. I worked in conjunction with other counselors, including an art therapist who opened my mind to how art, music, and writing can play important roles in helping people describe their struggles. For several years, I provided individual counseling to populations, including social justice organizers who were dealing with major stressors related to protests and the fight for justice. I have experience working with adults, children, and couples, and I’ve seen firsthand how resilient the human spirit is.

What you can expect from me

I provide an environment that embodies empathy, non-judgment, and an objective viewpoint while pushing you when needed.

I have worked with individuals and couples from many different communities. I welcome any ethnicity, gender identity, sexual preference and lifestyles of individuals seeking therapy.
