Great to meet you!

When life starts piling up, it can be hard to know what deserves your attention first. Maybe anxiety has you constantly thinking ahead to the next problem, depression has made it harder to feel like yourself, or stress from work, family, and relationships is leaving you worn down. Sometimes you know something needs to change, but figuring out where to begin feels like one more thing on an already full plate. I work with adults throughout Texas in individual and couples therapy, supporting concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, family conflict, and relationship difficulties. I also work with people navigating trauma, anger, substance use, and men’s mental health concerns. Before moving into private practice, I spent years doing crisis work with people facing sudden loss and major life disruptions. That experience taught me how much a calm conversation, clear perspective, and a practical next step can matter when everything feels uncertain.

My approach to therapy

I tend to start with what is happening in your life right now and help you sort through it without making things more complicated than they need to be. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. We might look at the thoughts and habits that are keeping anxiety or depression going, the patterns that show up in your relationships, or the ways stress has affected how you respond to the people around you. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when it is helpful to examine patterns in thinking and behavior, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you make room for difficult emotions without letting them run the show, and Motivational Interviewing when you feel torn about making a change. I also draw from Strength Based, Positive Psychology, and Solution Focused approaches. With couples, I may incorporate Emotion Focused Therapy to better understand the cycle you get caught in and help you communicate in a way that brings more clarity and connection.

What you can expect from me

Our first few sessions are really about making sense of what has been going on and figuring out what would actually be helpful. You do not need to come in with everything organized or know exactly what your goals should be. I’ll ask questions, listen for the things that seem to matter most, and help you narrow the focus so therapy feels manageable rather than like another obligation. From there, we’ll decide together what we want to work on and what progress would look like for you. You can expect me to be warm, open minded, practical, and straightforward. I’ll offer perspective when I think it could help and give you concrete strategies when you need something you can use outside the session. Over time, that might mean feeling less consumed by anxiety, responding to stress or anger differently, getting unstuck from depression, communicating more clearly with a partner, or simply feeling more confident about how you handle difficult situations.
