Great to meet you!
I’m Lisa Shoemaker, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work from Lamar University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. My professional background includes hospice, long-term care, foster care, domestic violence services, and early childhood intervention. These experiences have shaped my compassionate, strengths-based approach and my understanding of how family relationships, caregiving, loss, and life transitions affect our well-being.
I work with children, teens, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, relationship challenges, and difficulties with boundaries or self-esteem. I especially enjoy supporting women, mothers, caregivers, and families navigating medical complexity. As a mother of two, I understand the importance of having space to care for yourself while caring for others.
My additional training in yoga, massage therapy, and equine-assisted mental health informs my whole-person perspective. I integrate client-centered counseling, cognitive behavioral strategies, and mindfulness to help clients build coping skills, strengthen connection, and move toward meaningful change. Outside of work, I find renewal through time with my family, horses, and the outdoors.
