Great to meet you!

30+ years in the psychology/mental health field, working in hospitals, rehabilitation, and private practice, providing services for adults and children in inpatient and outpatient settings. Currently, I work with adults in an outpatient private practice setting, both in person and online. !2 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is eclectic in that I am client-led and allow the therapeutic process to be fluid enough to respond to each client's unique needs. My style is a blending of cognitive behavioral strategies and mindfulness teachings, along with any adjunct therapies that may be useful, such as art therapy, Gestalt techniques, energy techniques, or other modalities a client may grow from or be open to. I specifically deal with the "stinking thinking" we all do each day and how to reframe it to more rational and productive ways of thinking for less anxiety and depressive symptoms. Some of my specialties include healing from narcissistic abuse, grief and loss with both people and pets, forgiveness and gratitude work.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is the time to get to know each other, talk about why you came to therapy, begin to evaluate what is going on symptom-wise for diagnosis purposes, if insurance is part of the process, and answer any questions you may have about the process. My primary goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and confident that you are in a safe place to be vulnerable with your feelings and emotions without judgment. Hopefully, by the end of the session, you will know if we are a good match. If we are, great! If we are not, I will be happy to refer you to someone who can serve you better, no hard feelings.
