Great to meet you!

Women's lives are full of transitions — some expected, some not. The shift into motherhood. The grief of infertility. Managing anxiety or depression while also dealing with a chronic health condition. The season of figuring out what comes next. These are the moments I've spent 20+ years showing up for.

As a Black female LCSW trained at Howard University and the University of Maryland at Baltimore, I bring both clinical expertise and cultural understanding to every session. I know that what it means to navigate womanhood — the expectations, the pressures, the joy, and the loss — shapes how people experience their mental health. I take that seriously.

I practice through Family Focus Counseling Services in Chester, Virginia, serving adults throughout Virginia via telehealth. I offer both individual and group counseling for women in transition.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and centered on your life as you're actually living it — not a generic template.

I use CBT to help identify and shift the thought patterns driving anxiety, depression, and overwhelm. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) adds a layer of awareness and regulation — particularly useful when stress, grief, or a health condition is affecting how you feel day to day. Motivational Interviewing helps when change feels complicated or ambivalent; I meet you where you are without judgment.

I have particular experience supporting women navigating infertility, postpartum mood disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, and the mental health dimensions of chronic medical conditions. Whatever is bringing you here, I'm committed to helping you get to the life and relationships you want.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know you and what's brought you to therapy. I'll ask about your life, your concerns, and what you're hoping changes — and I'll listen far more than I prescribe.

We'll begin mapping out a treatment plan that's tailored to your specific needs and goals. Whether you're looking for individual sessions or would benefit from a group setting with other women navigating similar experiences, we'll figure out what fits you best.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling understood — and ready to begin.
