Great to meet you!

I became a therapist after a career in arts & culture nonprofits and community engagement. I learned a lot through my time working in community mental health with those with moderate to severe mental illness, I also have special experience working with college students (and young adults), older adults, artists and creatives, career challenges and burnout, and people living with HIV or other health conditions. Our lives don't often offer the non-judgmental space to work through trauma, heartache, and overwhelming stress. Based on what you have been through, the reaction your brain and body have to triggers is completely understandable. Through psychoeducation, grounding, CBT, and mindfulness we will train your brain to experience today’s world in a relaxed body- no matter what has been true about your world in the past.

My approach to therapy

It is all about you, and I will ask helpful questions, point out connections and patterns, and simply give you space to put yourself first and talk through your experiences. If you have been to therapy before, it may help to know I have the experience and training to work with those who have received a mild, moderate, or severe mental health diagnosis, but know that it is only one piece of the puzzle. Knowledge is power. I believe in psychoeduction - teaching you as much as you like about psychology and how our brains operate.

What you can expect from me

Setting up the first appointment can be a big step, and we will come up with a plan together when we meet. Expect that I will meet you where you are. If you’re nervous, I will put your mind at ease. If you know what you want to work on, we will dive right in. I've been a 'first therapist' to many people, and it's one of my favorite things about my job.
