Great to meet you!

I became a therapist because I genuinely love people and I believe we all deserve a place where we can be accompanied, seen, and welcomed without judgment in the complicated, painful, and unfinished parts of our lives. I’m endlessly curious about what shapes us, how we’ve learned to survive, and what helps us heal. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come to therapy—you get to come as you are.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve lived with ME/CFS, a life-altering chronic illness. That experience has deeply shaped who I am and how I sit with people whose lives have not gone according to plan. I understand how illness, trauma, grief, or unexpected change can touch everything—our relationships, work, identity, bodies, faith, and sense of who we thought we would become.

I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with specialized training in clinical rehabilitation, trauma healing, and chronic illness. I especially love working with women living with chronic or life-altering illness and adults healing from childhood and relational trauma who want to go deeper than talk therapy.

My style is warm, curious, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I draw from IFS, EMDR, and somatic approaches, but more than anything, I want therapy to be a place where you feel deeply seen and understood. We’ll make room for the complexity of your story and, together, begin finding your way toward greater freedom, connection, and hope; and the well-timed laugh, because humor is also healing.

My approach to therapy

I work with people who want to get to the root of things—not simply manage symptoms or understand intellectually why they feel the way they do. Often, anxiety, depression, trauma, and the emotional impact of chronic illness make more sense when we understand what you’ve lived through and how your mind and body have learned to protect you.

While talking and insight are important, sometimes knowing why we feel a certain way isn’t enough to help us feel differently. That’s why I incorporate therapies such as EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS), along with somatic and nervous-system-informed approaches.

I love IFS because it helps us approach ourselves with curiosity rather than judgment. Instead of seeing the anxious, critical, overwhelmed, perfectionistic, or shut-down parts of ourselves as problems to get rid of, we begin to understand why they’re there and what they may have been trying to protect. Over time, there can be a real shift from fighting ourselves to relating to ourselves with greater compassion, trust, and freedom.

EMDR can help us heal experiences that still feel “stuck.” Sometimes our minds know that something is over or that we’re safe now, while our emotions and bodies continue to respond as though the past is still happening. EMDR helps the brain process those experiences so they can become part of our story without continuing to have the same hold over us.

At the heart of all of this is relationship. I’m warm, curious, collaborative, and goal-focused. I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to be deeply known, when we can make sense of what has shaped us without judging ourselves for it, and when the things we’ve lived through no longer have to define what comes next.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know one another and beginning to understand what brings you to therapy. I’ll want to hear what life has been like lately, what feels most important right now, and what you’re hoping will be different as a result of our work together. You don’t need to tell me your whole story or go into painful experiences before you’re ready.

We’ll talk about what you want from therapy—not just what you want relief from, but what you want more of in your life. This way we can intentionally track your goals so you get the most out of therapy. Together, we’ll begin identifying the patterns or experiences that may be getting in the way and develop a sense of where we want to go.

The first session is also a chance for you to get a feel for me. Therapy is deeply relational, and finding someone you feel comfortable with matters. My hope is that you leave feeling heard and understood, with a little more clarity about what’s happening and a sense that we have a direction forward.
