Great to meet you!

I’m Lizzie Stevenson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 25 years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. Based in Denver, Colorado, I provide individual therapy for adults seeking greater emotional well-being, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self.

I specialize in anxiety, attachment issues, relationship patterns, self-esteem, boundaries, divorce recovery, betrayal trauma, and life transitions. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns they don't fully understand. You may know what needs to change but struggle to move forward, particularly when past experiences continue to influence your emotions and relationships.

My approach integrates attachment-based therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), family systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care. I help clients understand the connections between past experiences, emotional responses, and present challenges while developing practical tools for meaningful change.

I believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms. It's an opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, heal emotional wounds, strengthen boundaries, build resilience, and create healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

My style is warm, compassionate, thoughtful, and direct. Together, we'll work toward greater clarity, confidence, emotional balance, and lasting personal growth.

My approach to therapy

My approach to individual therapy is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, stress, and major life transitions. I specialize in attachment issues, self-esteem, emotional regulation, relationship patterns, boundaries, divorce recovery, and healing from difficult life experiences.

I use an integrative, evidence-based approach that combines attachment-based therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family systems, and trauma-informed care. Together, we'll explore how past experiences, emotional wounds, and relationship patterns may contribute to anxiety, depression, self-doubt, or feeling stuck.

My work focuses on helping you develop greater self-awareness, manage anxiety and stress, improve emotional regulation, establish healthy boundaries, and build stronger, more fulfilling relationships. I believe lasting change comes from understanding not only what you're experiencing, but why certain patterns continue to emerge.

My therapeutic style is compassionate, thoughtful, and direct. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood while developing practical coping skills, emotional resilience, and confidence. Whether you're navigating a breakup, divorce, relationship difficulties, trauma, or a significant life transition, we'll work together toward meaningful healing, personal growth, and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Your first individual therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore what brings you to counseling, and begin identifying your goals. Whether you're seeking therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, low self-esteem, stress, divorce recovery, or major life transitions, my priority is creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable and understood.

We'll discuss your current concerns, personal history, relationships, and emotional patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, overwhelm, or feeling stuck. Using an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), family systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we'll begin exploring how past experiences may influence your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships today.

Together, we'll identify your priorities, discuss treatment goals, and consider practical strategies for managing stress, improving emotional regulation, building self-esteem, establishing healthy boundaries, and developing healthier relationships.

You won't be pressured to share more than you're ready for. My style is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and direct. The first session is about building trust, understanding your needs, and creating a personalized plan for meaningful change, emotional healing, and greater confidence moving forward.
