Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Lonniel. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor serving clients in California and Nevada. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and have over seven years of experience working in community mental health, behavioral health, and integrated care settings.

I specialize in helping individuals navigate trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, and co-occurring mental health challenges. I also have experience supporting veterans, athletes, and individuals facing significant life transitions. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore challenges, develop new skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, direct, and solution-focused. I believe therapy should help clients gain insight into the root causes of their challenges while also providing practical tools they can use in everyday life. I tailor treatment to each individual's unique needs and goals, drawing from evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

I view healing from a holistic perspective, recognizing the connection between mental, emotional, relational, and physical well-being. Together, we work to build resilience, improve coping skills, and create sustainable change.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. I'll spend time learning about your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals for therapy. We'll discuss what has been working, what hasn't, and what you hope to gain from the counseling process.

My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood. By the end of our first session, we'll begin identifying priorities for treatment and develop a plan that feels realistic, personalized, and aligned with your goals. You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy, we'll work through it together.
