Great to meet you!

When substance use, addiction, anxiety, or depression begins affecting your everyday life, it can feel like you are spending more energy trying to hold things together than actually feeling present in your life. You may be navigating difficult emotions, questioning your relationship with substances, struggling with changes in your identity, or carrying painful experiences that continue to influence how you feel today. I work with seniors, adolescents, and adults experiencing substance use or addiction, anxiety, depression, women’s issues, and trauma. These concerns can also overlap with stress management or end of life concerns, especially when you are navigating significant changes in your relationships, responsibilities, health, or sense of self. Therapy can give you a place to speak honestly about what you are experiencing without judgment or pressure. Together, we can understand what has been weighing on you, strengthen healthier ways of coping, and help you move toward greater stability, confidence, and connection.

My approach to therapy

Our work will make room for both what you are experiencing today and the emotions, relationships, experiences, and patterns that have shaped how you got here. We’ll explore how substance use or addiction, anxiety, depression, women’s issues, and trauma may be affecting your emotional wellbeing and the way you experience yourself and your relationships. I may use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore change without pressure while strengthening your own reasons for moving forward, Solution Focused Brief Therapy to identify the strengths and resources you already have and turn your goals into practical steps, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you recognize patterns in thoughts and behaviors that contribute to distress and develop healthier ways of responding. Psychodynamic Therapy can help us explore how earlier experiences and relationships may continue to influence the patterns you notice today. Our sessions will be collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in your individual experience, giving you space to understand yourself more deeply while developing tools that support meaningful change outside of therapy.

What you can expect from me

You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what needs to change before we begin. During our first few sessions, we will spend time understanding what brought you to therapy, what has been most difficult, and what you hope will feel different. Together, we will create goals that feel meaningful and realistic and decide where it makes the most sense to start. You can expect me to bring warmth, openness, and compassion to our conversations while creating a space where you can talk honestly about substance use, difficult emotions, relationships, or painful experiences without feeling judged. Progress may look like developing healthier ways to cope, feeling less consumed by anxiety, reconnecting with yourself when depression feels heavy, processing trauma at a manageable pace, or feeling more confident navigating changes in your life. We will continue checking in on your goals and shape our work around what helps you feel more grounded, supported, and empowered.
