Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome! My name is Lori and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado. I received my initial licensure in March of 2023 and have worked in various settings since completing my education to include working with incarcerated individuals, private practice, inpatient settings, crisis centers, and completed my practicum and internship at a facility providing therapy and parenting classes to those involved with DSHS/CPS so I have a diverse background when it comes to experience even though I have only been licensed a short time. I have spent a majority of my time working with major mental health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and major depressive disorder. My other areas of focus have been providing support groups for transgender individuals, providing groups such as anger management and other educational groups and working with various other mental health diagnoses. I also am currently working as a designated crisis responder in Washington State which provides mental health evaluations to people in crisis to determine if a higher level of care is needed.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is a person-centered one. You are the expert in your own life, not me. I am not here to fix you, You are not broken. I am here to provide you with a kind and empathetic ear to process through whatever you need to in order to find inner peace. We will collaborate on therapy goals and work together to achieve them.

What you can expect from me

Our first session consists of completing an intake together. Getting to know you, what concerns you are bringing to therapy and discussing any concerns you have had with previous therapy. I will be transparent with you and communicate openly. I tend to have a softer, more empathetic and validating approach rather than direct and confrontational approach to therapy. I can adjust accordingly if needed.
