Great to meet you!

Do you struggle to open up, feel emotions deeply, or understand others?

Maybe you've been carrying something heavy for a long time. A stressful experience you haven't fully processed, a relationship that keeps hitting the same wall, or a sense that you're going through the motions without really knowing who you are anymore. You want to feel more connected, to yourself, to the people you love, and to your own future.

I'm Lori Mattingly, LMFT, and together we'll work to uncover what's been holding you back, build the tools to move forward, and create space for you to redefine what your life can look like.

Location

I provide in-person therapy in Long Beach, CA and virtual online throughout California for individuals, couples, and families ready to heal, reconnect, and build a life that finally feels like theirs

Cultural Considerations

I am trained in cultural competency and foster an open line of communication about cultural considerations with you to build awareness of specific cultural needs, customs and values that may guide treatment. While many cultures have common characteristics you have the space to tell me who you are and what is important to you personally.

My approach to therapy

I am curious, direct, empathetic, humorous, knowledgeable and open to hearing your feedback about what is helpful for you throughout our time working together.

I create a space for you to bravely uncover and acknowledge hard moments from your life, to be curious, to process, and find freedom and empowerment in redefining yourself, your life and your future.

What you can expect from me

You will feel thoughtful at times, or may feel motivated to try new approaches to life situations. You'll feel more equipped with knowledge about your thoughts, emotions and experiences that have affected you (i.e. stress, trauma, relationships, etc.).

Therapy feels like hard work sometimes, and often it feels worse before it gets better - because you're finally cleaning out your wounds. However, over time you will heal, you will feel more hopeful and gain a sense of peace.
