Great to meet you!

My name is Lori Torre, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Since graduating from Stony Brook University in 2009 I have had a variety of experiences working in the mental health field including mental health housing, a community clinical setting and private practice. I have experience working with clients who experience struggles related to depression, anxiety, family dynamics, relationships and trauma. I truly love what I do, and I am passionate about helping others.

My approach to therapy

My approach is client-centered and strengths-based. We will work collaboratively to explore your experiences and the impact they are having on you. I will provide support and encouragement to foster the change you desire in a way that leads to lasting and meaningful transformation. I will help you find coping strategies, if needed, to help you deal with immediate stressors. I am also trained in EMDR, an evidenced-based modality for those clients who have a history of trauma.

What you can expect from me

A typical session with me focuses on building a meaningful therapeutic relationship and creating a safe space for you to be with and express difficult, unpleasant emotions in the healthiest way possible. I strive to make all clients feel seen and heard. I embrace the belief that all people have the intuition and capacity to move in the direction that’s most authentic for them and live in alignment with their values.
