Great to meet you!

I’m Lorin Samuels, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 17 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families through trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also have experience helping clients navigate more complex mental health concerns and significant emotional or mood-related challenges.

I believe therapy should feel safe, accepting, and personalized to you. Whether you’re struggling with something from your past, feeling overwhelmed, navigating a relationship, or simply know that something needs to change, I’ll take the time to understand your experiences and what matters most to you.

My goal is to help you feel understood, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that create meaningful change in your everyday life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is holistic, affirming, and solution-oriented. I believe meaningful therapy starts with creating a relationship where you feel safe, accepted, and comfortable being honest about what you’re experiencing.

I draw from CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches. Depending on your needs, we may explore how past experiences, thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors are affecting you today while also focusing on practical steps toward change.

I’ll meet you where you are, support you through the difficult moments, and help you recognize the “light-bulb” moments that can lead to greater understanding, confidence, and lasting progress.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, hear your story, and understand what brought you to therapy. I know reaching out can be difficult, so my priority is creating a space where you can feel safe, comfortable, and accepted.

We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, what you hope to change, and what meaningful progress could look like for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we begin.

Together, we’ll identify where to start and create a direction for our work that fits your needs. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path forward.
