Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Lorissa Garza, a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience in counseling and social services. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with individuals and families facing a variety of challenges and life circumstances.

My current areas of focus include supporting clients experiencing depression and anxiety, stress, OCD, as well as those working through the effects of trauma. I believe that everyone’s experiences are unique, and I take an individualized, compassionate approach to counseling.

My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences, develop practical tools for coping, and work toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

Everyone has a unique story, and I believe therapy should be tailored to the individual. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you while exploring your concerns, building on your strengths, and working toward meaningful change. I’ll listen without judgment, offer guidance and encouragement, and gently challenge you when it can help you move forward.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you and understanding what brings you to counseling. We’ll discuss your current concerns, relevant personal and family history, strengths, and what you would like to change or improve.

We’ll also talk about your goals for therapy and identify a few specific areas we can begin working on together. Depending on your needs, we may discuss coping strategies, communication, relationships, stress, anxiety, mood, or other concerns affecting your daily life.

You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions about therapy and my approach, and we’ll discuss how we can work together moving forward.

My goal is for you to leave the first session with a clearer understanding of your concerns, an initial plan for treatment, and practical next steps. Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable, respected, and heard throughout the process.
