Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm Lorraine Halder, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adolescents and adults. With more than 10 years of experience in psychiatric settings, I have had the privilege of working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns.

I believe that seeking help is a courageous first step, and my goal is to make every client feel welcomed, heard, and respected from the moment we meet. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can openly discuss your experiences and feel supported throughout your mental health journey.

I take an individualized approach to treatment because I understand that every person's story is unique. Together, we'll develop a treatment plan that aligns with your needs, goals, and values while helping you build the tools needed to improve your emotional well-being and daily functioning.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is collaborative, compassionate, and personalized. I believe the best outcomes happen when clients feel like active partners in their treatment rather than simply being told what to do.

I take time to understand the whole person—not just symptoms, but also lifestyle, relationships, medical history, stressors, and personal goals. Using evidence-based treatment, I develop individualized care plans that may include medication management, education, lifestyle recommendations, and coordination with therapists or other healthcare providers when appropriate.

I believe that understanding your diagnosis and treatment options is empowering. I encourage questions, provide clear education about medications and expected outcomes, and work closely with you to make thoughtful adjustments along the way. My goal is to help you feel supported while finding the safest and most effective path toward lasting mental wellness.

What you can expect from me

During your first appointment, my priority is getting to know you not just your symptoms, but your experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. We'll complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation by discussing your current concerns, mental health history, medical history, previous treatments, family history, lifestyle, and anything else that may be contributing to how you're feeling.

You'll have plenty of time to ask questions, and we'll work together to create a treatment plan that feels realistic and tailored to your individual needs. If medication is appropriate, we'll discuss the benefits, potential side effects, and what to expect moving forward. We'll also explore other supportive strategies and resources that may help you achieve your goals.

My hope is that you'll leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and reassured that you have a thoughtful plan and a provider who is committed to supporting you every step of the way.
