As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 40 years of experience, I have helped people from all backgrounds. Seeking help is a difficult first step, but it shouldn't be like a visit to the dentist. This does not mean it is an easy process, but you deserve a good smile every day. I specialize in personality disorders, substance abuse problems, PTSD, relationship issues and psychotic disorders. I have a particular interest in men's issues.
My approach to therapy is simple. Good treatment has always been about the relationship established between a therapist and their patient. Sometimes bumpy, but always respectful with the utmost concern for the well-being of my patients. I utilize a combination of psychodynamic and CBT approaches to understand and treat my patients. This said, I have also found in my many years of practice that no two patients are the same and find it productive to also utilize an Eclectic/flexible approach to address the complexity of problems patients present.
During our first session I will ask you more questions than your first-grade teacher did. Seriously, the first session is our opportunity to get to know one another. I recognize we are strangers to one another, and you are seeking my help. I will ask questions allowing you to discuss the issues you are seeking help for. My goals for this first session are to help you become comfortable, gather information, develop an initial assessment and share my thoughts about your issues and a plan to move forward.
