Great to meet you!

I’m LaToya T. Newman, MS, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with master’s degrees in both Marriage and Family Therapy and Criminal Justice Sciences. My background allows me to look beyond symptoms alone and consider the relational, environmental, and systemic experiences that shape how we see ourselves, connect with others, and respond to life’s challenges.

I work with adults, couples, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, and emotional overwhelm. I particularly enjoy supporting individuals and couples who are ready to better understand themselves, explore relational patterns, strengthen communication, and heal from experiences that continue to impact how they show up in relationships and daily life.

My work is attachment-based, trauma-informed, and relational. I pay attention not only to what is happening on the surface, but also to the deeper emotional experiences, family dynamics, and life experiences influencing your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I am especially mindful of cultural experiences, family systems, and the impact of past environments on emotional safety and connection.

Clients often describe me as warm, direct, insightful, and easy to talk to. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment while also gently challenging patterns that may no longer be serving you. I believe healing and growth happen when we better understand ourselves, feel emotionally safe, and begin addressing things at the root.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is attachment-based, trauma-informed, relational, and systems-focused. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or surface-level solutions, I help clients explore the deeper emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns shaped by life experiences, stress, trauma, and relationships.

I believe many struggles are not signs of weakness or failure, but adaptive responses developed to navigate difficult experiences or environments. Together, we work to better understand these patterns, increase self-awareness, strengthen emotional safety, and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and honest. I strive to create a space where you can slow down, feel supported, and make meaningful, sustainable changes by addressing challenges at the root—not just managing what shows up on the surface.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a calm, supportive, and collaborative space where we begin getting to know your story. We’ll explore what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and the experiences, relationships, or stressors that may be contributing to your current challenges.

There is no pressure to share everything at once. We move at a pace that feels emotionally safe and supportive, while also beginning to build trust and understanding. I’ll likely ask questions to help me better understand your experiences, patterns, relationships, and goals for therapy.

Many clients leave the first session feeling heard, more grounded, and with greater clarity about what may be contributing to their struggles. My goal is for you to walk away feeling supported, understood, and more confident about the direction of our work together.
