Great to meet you!

Sometimes we feel as though there is something fundamentally wrong with us: as though we don't belong, or don't matter. In response to these feelings we find ourselves ruminating, isolating, misusing substances, escaping into fantasies or entertainment....and yet the relief is only temporary. I help clients change how they relate to their feelings, such that they live their lives not in reaction to them, but instead in line with their values and commitments. Clients cultivate an accepting, non-reactive stance towards their own internal experience, and, at the same time, clarify what it is that they want their lives to be about.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I work from an ACT/DBT perspective. I specialize in working with men, and help run retreats for men a few times a year. My experience living in Buddhist monasteries, practicing various forms of meditation, and studying somatic modalities has also influenced my work.

What you can expect from our first session

Through the relationship that you and I form, we practice having feelings and thoughts (rather than simply reacting to them). It is only by slowing down and creating that space between feeling and reaction that we can begin to develop our own agency, that we can begin to open up the space to choose. This is the skill that I seek to help you cultivate.
