Great to meet you!

Hola! I’m Luz Varela Morales, a certified bilingual therapist. I’m deeply passionate about social justice and honoring people in all their dimensions and identities. As someone who is bicultural, I understand the world through more than one lens, and I value the richness and complexity that comes with that. I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or intimidating, it can be a place where you laugh a little, breathe easier, and feel truly understood (sometimes in English, sometimes en español, or a mix of both!). My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, messy, growing, figuring things out, and know you’ll be met with warmth, compassion, and genuine care.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I believe that while pain is a natural part of life, we don’t have to let it control us. I have a deep passion for grief work, having been personally touched by grief, I approach loss with compassion and patience, honoring the unique ways each person heals. A key part of my approach is cultural humility. I recognize that every person’s story is shaped by their culture, identities, and lived experiences, and I strive to honor all the dimensions of who you are. I use trauma informed approaches rooted in this understanding to treat anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, depression and stress related to social and systemic barriers.

What you can expect from me

In our work together, I’ll help you notice and make space for your emotions instead of fighting them, while also clarifying what truly matters to you. From there, we’ll focus on building skills and taking steps that move you toward a more meaningful, fulfilling life. Clients can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where they feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore their emotions at their own pace. And don’t worry, you don’t have to have the “perfect” way of saying things in session. I’m here to help untangle the messy thoughts and sometimes make sense of the stories we tell ourselves that keep us stuck.
