Great to meet you!
Hi there! My name is Lydia J. Mathis, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC.0022484) practicing in the state of Colorado and offering EMDR, trauma therapy, and parenting support. I specialize in the treatment of trauma, specifically PTSD, C-PTSD, and have extensive experience working with adults, teens, and pregnant people from around the world. My background is in International Disaster Psychology: Trauma and Global Mental Health. I obtained my degree from University of Denver. During my training, I also completed a specialization in maternal and infant mental health, working with individuals in the perinatal period.
In my career, I have worked and trained in a variety of settings since 2017 under the mentorship of other mental health and psychosocial support providers. This journey took me to Kurdistan working with with displaced ISIS survivors, to Northern India with children who experienced labor/sex trafficking, to Costa Rica with youth impacted by gang violence, and to Aurora, Colorado with refugees, new Americans, and survivors of torture. I have a wide breadth of experience treating trauma and supporting cultural identity and navigation.
