Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified psychiatrist who has been practicing medicine since 2010. I earned my bachelor's degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University, received my medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, and completed my residency training in psychiatry at the University of Kentucky. I am board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In addition to my psychiatric training, I completed advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy from the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute, which informs my understanding of how life experiences, relationships, and patterns of thinking can affect emotional well-being.

I provide telehealth care for adults throughout Kentucky. My areas of interest include anxiety disorders, depression, OCD-spectrum symptoms, stress and burnout, life transitions, and relationship concerns. I enjoy working with individuals who may appear successful on the outside but are struggling with persistent worry, self-criticism, perfectionism, or emotional distress.

My approach integrates evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy principles. I believe treatment is most effective when patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their care. Together, we work to understand symptoms, identify underlying patterns, and develop practical strategies that support lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I believe effective psychiatric care starts with taking the time to understand the whole person, not just a list of symptoms. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I work closely with patients to understand their concerns, identify treatment goals, and develop a plan that fits their needs and values.

I integrate evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy principles, drawing from my training in psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as practical skills-based approaches when appropriate. While medication can be an important part of treatment, I also believe that understanding patterns, relationships, stressors, and life experiences can be essential to lasting improvement.

My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

What you can expect from me

The best way to get started is by visiting my website to learn more about my practice and submitting the contact form. I will review your information and reach out to discuss whether we are a good fit. www.lynnjacobsonmd.com

During our first session, I will take time to understand what has brought you to treatment. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, past treatment experiences, and any personal, family, or life factors that may be contributing to how you are feeling.

My goal is to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood. I encourage questions and view treatment as a collaborative process.

By the end of the appointment, we will discuss my impressions, review treatment options, and develop an initial plan tailored to your needs. This may include medication recommendations, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches. You will leave with a clearer understanding of your symptoms and next steps for treatment.
