I'm Lynn Vinson, an LCSW with over 30 years in social work — I've been a child protective social worker, hospital social worker, crisis intervention specialist, and worked in psychiatric facilities across two states before stepping fully into private therapy. That breadth of experience means I've sat with people at their most vulnerable moments, and I don't flinch from hard conversations.A few things that make me a little different: I specialize in pre-weight loss surgery psychological consultations — and I've personally been through bariatric surgery myself (2004), so I understand what that journey actually feels like, not just clinically. I also have a specific passion for working with older adults, caregivers, and people navigating life transitions that others might minimize. I hold faith-based values and can integrate those into our work if that's meaningful to you — or set them aside completely if it's not.My clients often tell me that talking to me feels like a real conversation. My style is eclectic — I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all framework. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and positive psychology, and I adapt based on what you actually need rather than following a rigid protocol.You'll notice I ask a lot of questions — not to evaluate you, but because I genuinely want to understand your specific situation. I use stories and real-world examples to help things land, which clients tell me makes complex feelings easier to process. I'm direct but never harsh, and I'll give you honest reflection even when it's uncomfortable — because that's where growth usually lives.I treat every client as a unique person with distinct circumstances. No two treatment plans here look the same.
