MacKenzie Rooney

Hello! My name is MacKenzie and I am a licensed clinical social worker. If I am not outdoors exploring, I am probably baking or doing some sort of puzzle, with my dog next to me of course!

I graduated from University of Nevada Reno in 2021 with my masters in social work. I spent over two years working at a substance use rehabilitation center with individuals transitioning out of incarceration. While working with that population, I received my licensed alcohol and drug counseling certificate to further my understanding of addiction treatment.

I also had the opportunity to work with children, teens, and young adults in an individual and family capacity for over two years. While working with this population I furthered my skills and understanding around family dynamics and more niche mental health diagnoses.

I love working with all ages and backgrounds! However, I strictly work with ages 13+ when it comes to telehealth to increase engagement in services.

I am a person-centered therapist who prioritizes the relationship that is cultivated between a client and therapist. I will help guide clients through the therapeutic process and empower them to take lead in their treatment process and outcomes.

During the first session, an intake assessment will be conducted to best understand what the client is searching for therapeutically and to ensure the connection between the client and therapist will be positive, for both individuals. This will be a conversation that covers, but is not limited to, family background, education, past signification life events, and goals for treatment. The more information the better! This will help guide treatment and increase a successful outcome.
