Great to meet you!

As a board certified psychotherapist and client of therapy myself, I believe prioritizing mental health is essential for achieving life goals and managing stress. I believe without a solid foundation of knowing how to take care of our mental health we can never become our true, full authentic selves. I have spent my career focused mainly on treating trauma in clients of all ages; helping them understand how their past continues to impact the present so they can heal their minds and bodies. As a queer individual, I have begun to focus more on issues related to LGBTQIA+ and am passionate about working with my community. Additionally, I support clients with working through issues around managing mood or anxiety disorders, improving relationships, managing life transitions, women's issues, ADHD in childhood and specifically in adult women, and exploring how to manage the stress connected to chronic health conditions.

My approach to therapy

I consider therapy to be a collaboration, you are the expert on yourself and I am the expert on psychology. Together we explore your story, what is contributing to the problems in your life and how we can work on making change happen to meet your treatment goals. I work to help you better see your strengths and empower you to incorporate these strengths as you work towards new patterns of behavior. At times I will teach you coping skills, offer psychoeducation about your diagnosis or symptoms, and engage you in solution focused planning to push forward real change to meet your treatment goals. However, every step of the way we work as a team, constantly communicating about whether you like the strategies we are using and whether they are a good fit for you or not. My goal is that when you leave therapy you feel that you have not only met your treatment goals but you have experienced a meaningful connected therapeutic relationship as well.

What you can expect from me

A big congratulations is due in the first session because asking for help is the hardest part! You have decided to show up for yourself. I already have so much respect for you and want to make you feel as comfortable as possible. We will start with all the basics, what brings you into therapy? I like to make things very conversational and relaxed. We will discuss what has been bothering you, what you would like to work on in therapy, and what your treatment goals might be. We usually don't discuss everything in a first session, it's about making sure you feel safe and it's a good fit between the two of us. Once we feel well suited to work together we can establish some treatment goals and continue from there.
