Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Maddie Asghari. As a bilingual (English/Farsi) board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide culturally sensitive care for complex psychiatric needs, including ADHD, OCD, personality disorders, PTSD and trauma, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, and bipolar conditions. My practice serves those who may have felt misunderstood by traditional approaches, particularly within diverse cultural contexts.

I specialize in complex presentations because mental health exists within your entire life experience, relationships, cultural background, and personal history. Whether you're managing ADHD alongside trauma, dealing with OCD symptoms that emerged during difficult periods, or navigating personality patterns as adaptive responses, I work to understand how these experiences shaped you and what healing means within your cultural framework.

My approach emphasizes comprehensive assessment and integrated treatment planning. Many patients come to me after years of confusion or fragmented care. I conduct thorough evaluations, identify overlooked patterns, and develop holistic approaches that address your full spectrum of needs rather than treating conditions in isolation.

I'm committed to creating a partnership where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Speaking both English and Farsi allows me to connect with clients in their preferred language, honoring cultural nuances. Together, we'll work toward authentic flourishing in all areas that matter to you and build lasting resilience.

My approach to therapy

My approach is both deeply personal and firmly grounded in evidence-based practice. I chose psychiatry because exceptional mental health care holds the power to transform lives, and I am dedicated to bringing that conviction to every person I serve. I see mental health challenges not as personal failings, but as profoundly human experiences deserving skilled, thoughtful, and genuinely compassionate support.

Some people arrive during an acute crisis, while others are navigating long-standing difficulties or significant life transitions. Whatever has brought you here, I will meet you exactly where you are and partner with you in pursuing the goals that matter most. There is no wrong place to begin, and no experience that makes you undeserving of excellent care.

I practice comprehensive psychiatry, drawing from a broad range of proven, evidence-based methods to build highly individualized treatment plans. This may include thoughtful medication management, cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness-based practices, meaningful lifestyle modifications, or a carefully tailored combination of approaches designed around your needs.

I am especially intentional about medication management—prescribing with clear purpose, starting conservatively when appropriate, and maintaining honest, open dialogue about benefits and potential side effects. Medication can be a genuinely valuable tool, but it remains only one important component of care and should never be treated as an automatic or reflexive first answer.

I view the provider-patient relationship as truly essential to lasting recovery. Research consistently affirms that a strong therapeutic alliance meaningfully shapes outcomes, and I am fully invested in building that genuine partnership with you. My goal is for you to develop a deeper understanding of your mental health, genuine insight into your challenges, and lasting, practical strategies for navigating whatever life brings us.

What you can expect from me

During our first visit, my foremost goal is for you to feel genuinely safe, truly acknowledged, and confident in the care you are receiving. You deserve nothing less. I recognize that medication management can raise real concerns, and I am wholly committed to addressing them with honesty and sincere warmth.

We will start by exploring what brought you in — the challenges you are facing, how long they have persisted, and how they are affecting your daily life and relationships. I will ask about symptoms including depression, anxiety, panic episodes, mood fluctuations, sleep disturbances, appetite changes, concentration difficulties, and intrusive thoughts, evaluating their frequency, intensity, and duration to identify meaningful patterns.

We will review prior diagnoses, hospitalizations, earlier treatment experiences, and past psychiatric medications — including dosages, how well they worked, and any side effects you encountered.

We will go through your physical health, covering chronic conditions, active prescriptions, supplements, and allergies, alongside lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, nutrition, and substance use. Your personal circumstances carry genuine weight. We will discuss workplace pressures, relationship challenges, recent losses, and the support systems available to you.

After assembling this comprehensive picture together, we will jointly determine whether medication management is the right fit for your needs. If appropriate, I will guide you through your options in detail — how they function, anticipated benefits and timelines, possible side effects, and how we will monitor your progress.

I believe in starting carefully, advancing steadily, and adjusting thoughtfully. You will never be left wondering why a particular medication was selected, and you will always leave our appointments with a clear understanding of where we stand and where we are heading.
