Great to meet you!

Mahnoor Aftab, LMHC

Seeking support is a courageous step, and I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey toward healing and growth. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor serving adults throughout Massachusetts. As a fluent Urdu-speaking therapist with South Asian cultural competency, I understand the unique challenges related to culture, identity, family expectations, immigration experiences, and mental health.

I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, OCD, depression, stress, life transitions, and relationship concerns. I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based treatment for OCD, while integrating trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. Whether you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, anxiety, or unresolved trauma, therapy can help you develop insight, resilience, and effective coping strategies.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs and goals. Together, we can build on your strengths, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change.

I work with clients across Massachusetts, including Worcester, Framingham, Lowell, Boston, and surrounding communities through secure telehealth services. I am particularly passionate about supporting South Asian individuals navigating cultural identity, family dynamics, and life transitions.

I accept major insurance plans, including Aetna and Cigna. Whether you are seeking support for OCD, anxiety, trauma, depression, or personal growth, I look forward to helping you move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where we begin building a therapeutic connection. I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so my priority is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the very beginning.

We will spend time discussing what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and any relevant personal history you feel comfortable sharing. I may also ask questions to better understand your goals, strengths, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process.

Together, we will begin identifying initial goals for treatment and explore what progress might look like for you. While the first session is focused on understanding your needs and establishing a foundation, it also provides an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapy process and my approach.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling a sense of clarity, support, and direction, along with the beginning of a collaborative plan tailored to your unique needs and pace.
