Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Mahnoor Aftab, LMHC. I believe that seeking support is a courageous step, and I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey toward healing and growth. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Advanced Trauma from Bay Path University, where I also serve as an Adjunct Faculty member.

I specialize in working with individuals who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore your experiences without judgment.

I understand that every person's story is unique, which is why I tailor treatment to meet your individual needs and goals. Together, we can build on your strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and work toward creating a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Whether you're facing a difficult season in life or seeking personal growth, I look forward to supporting you every step of the way.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and client-centered. I believe that each person is the expert of their own lived experience, and my role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to better understand patterns, process emotions, and build meaningful change.

I draw from evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s needs, with a strong foundation in trauma-focused work. I often integrate cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness-based techniques, and strength-based approaches to help clients develop insight, improve coping skills, and foster emotional regulation.

I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I place a strong emphasis on creating safety and stability in the therapeutic relationship, especially when working with trauma, as I believe healing happens when clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported.

Ultimately, my goal is to help clients feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to themselves, while building the tools they need to move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where we begin building a therapeutic connection. I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so my priority is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and supported from the very beginning.

We will spend time discussing what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and any relevant personal history you feel comfortable sharing. I may also ask questions to better understand your goals, strengths, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process.

Together, we will begin identifying initial goals for treatment and explore what progress might look like for you. While the first session is focused on understanding your needs and establishing a foundation, it also provides an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapy process and my approach.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling a sense of clarity, support, and direction, along with the beginning of a collaborative plan tailored to your unique needs and pace.
