Welcome!
I'm so glad you found me here on Headway. My name is Maitreyi (pronounced moy-trey-ee). I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Naropa University with a focus on Contemplative counseling and Buddhist Psychology.
I've been working in the mental health field as a professional licensed counselor for the past five years, mainly in community mental health for The Jefferson Center for Mental Health. Prior to that I completed my internship with Boulder Medical Center.
Curerntly I work with ages 12 and up and can offer virtual appointments (Telehealth) through Headway.
My approach to therapy is humanistic, friendly, focused and interactive. As a contemplative and Buddhist psychology oriented psychotherapist my aim is to co-create experiences in session that will strengthen your awareness and increase your ability to respond to life's challenges with greater ease and balance. I am also trained in evidence based modalities/ interventions such as MI (motivational interviewing), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). I am further trained in and utilize the following trauma specific treatment modalities: EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and TIST (trauma informed stabilization treatment). Lastly I am CAMS certified (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality).
With each session you can expect to take away something useful that you can apply right away in life outside sessions. Whereas it might be relieving just to engage in talk therapy in sessions my intention it to always give you more than that, an actual experience of your own mind along with skills you can use in real life. We will set the goals that you would like to work towards and tailor interventions towards those specific goals.
