Great to meet you!

Hi my name is Majidah! I live with chronic illness, am neurodiverse, first gener, queer, therapist of color specializing in Somatic Therapy. I graduated in 2021 from Naropa University and began working in the field in 2019. My vast experience has led to knowledge of working with clients across various services including: court mandated, community based, victim's of crime, DV/IPV survivors, asylum seekers, refugees, and those seeking to change their relationship w/ substances. I have worked w/ couples, individuals, families, and groups. I completed a 2 year mentorship in Somatic Abolition Therapy Programming with Resmaa Menakem focusing on healing interventions for racial, historical, and intergenerational trauma. Being a queer, neurodiverse women of color, shapes the way I approach therapy. I take a systemic approach to understanding how trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, and chronic illness shapes the connection between mind and body and how the disconnect can often cause conflict in these two areas.

My approach to therapy

I take a decolonial approach to therapy and believe that therapy should be accessible to all. No two clients are the same and my approach reflects that. I take an eclectic approach to therapy that is rooted in a humanistic, person-centered, and relational modalities. I draw on evidence-based interventions from IFS, EMDR, Somatics, CBT, and mindfulness-based modalities.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together you can expect to be asked a lot of questions from a place of kindness rooted in curiosity about your experiences and how we can collaborate to empower you on your healing journey. I believe clients are the experts of their own lived experience. I am here to lend support to quiet the clutter in our minds that get in the way of being able to be in relationship with ourselves so we can be in relationship with others.
