Great to meet you!

Renova Psychiatry is led by Makenna Francis, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care with a focus on nervous system support, stability, and long-term mental and cognitive health.

Renova’s approach is grounded in three core areas:

  • Nervous system regulation. The nervous system plays a central role in how we respond to stress, sleep, focus, and emotions. When it is under constant strain, people may feel anxious, overwhelmed, unfocused, or emotionally reactive—even when they are doing “all the right things.” Supporting regulation and recovery helps create the conditions for clearer thinking, steadier emotions, and more sustainable progress over time.
  • Stability before escalation. Many psychiatric symptoms fluctuate or respond inconsistently when the nervous system is overloaded. Care at Renova prioritizes stabilizing sleep, stress response, and baseline functioning so treatment decisions are clearer, better tolerated, and more effective.
  • Long-term mental and cognitive health. Treatment is designed to support not only short-term symptom relief, but lasting mental clarity, emotional resilience, and cognitive health over time.

Through years of work in medical and clinical settings, Makenna developed a strong appreciation for prevention, pacing, and supporting overall system health rather than relying solely on reactive treatment.

Renova Psychiatry works with adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, mood concerns, and stress-related burnout. Services include psychiatric evaluations and medication management, with thoughtful consideration of relevant labs and nutritional factors when clinically appropriate. Care emphasizes collaboration with therapy, safety, and long-term stability.

My approach to therapy

Renova Psychiatry’s approach to care is thoughtful, paced, and collaborative. Care focuses on understanding how nervous system regulation, sleep, stress response, and overall stability influence mental health, rather than relying on rapid or reactive medication changes alone.

Treatment begins with careful assessment and shared decision-making. Medications are used when appropriate and are reassessed over time, with attention to safety, tolerability, and long-term effectiveness. When helpful, care also considers relevant medical and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to symptoms, and coordination with therapy or other providers is encouraged to support comprehensive care.

The goal is not only symptom reduction, but improved clarity, stability, and sustainable progress that fits real life.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, we will take time to understand what brings you in, your current concerns, and your broader context. This includes reviewing symptoms, relevant medical and psychiatric history, sleep patterns, stressors, and any prior treatment experiences.

The first visit is focused on listening, clarifying patterns, and developing an initial plan together. In some cases, this may include medication recommendations; in others, it may involve gathering more information or prioritizing stabilization before making changes.

You can expect a calm, structured conversation where questions are encouraged, options are discussed openly, and next steps are clearly outlined. The goal of the first session is to establish clarity, alignment, and a thoughtful path forward rather than rushing decisions.
