Great to meet you!

Makenzi Cooley is a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who earned both her master’s and doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University. With a strong clinical foundation and a creative background in theatre, she brings a unique presence to the therapy room that emphasizes authenticity, connection, and the power of personal storytelling. Her work is rooted in the belief that healing happens within safe, compassionate relationships where clients feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

My approach to therapy

Makenzi's clinical approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s needs, drawing from evidence-based and experiential modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method, Sand Tray Therapy, and Yoga Therapy. This allows her to support clients not only cognitively and emotionally, but also somatically, helping them reconnect with their internal experiences in a grounded and embodied way.

What you can expect from me

Makenzi values creating a collaborative therapeutic space where clients are active participants in their healing process. She believes therapy is not about “fixing” people, but about exploring meaning, increasing awareness, and fostering growth in ways that feel aligned and sustainable. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, she strives to help clients build insight, improve communication, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
