Great to meet you!

I'm Malia Doss, a licensed therapist based in Castle Rock, Colorado, and I'm not your typical therapist background. Before I became a therapist, I spent years as a Senior Vice President at an international company — I understand what it's like to be high-performing on the outside and quietly struggling on the inside. I know the culture of handling everything yourself. I know what it costs.

I work with adults and families navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship strain, grief, PTSD, and the specific pressures that come with high-responsibility lives. I have a particular passion for working with men who are ready to do something different, and with couples who want more than just conflict resolution — they want actual closeness back.

I offer in-person sessions in Castle Rock and telehealth sessions across Colorado. I'm in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, and Carelon Behavioral Health.

My approach to therapy

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Depending on what's most helpful for you, I draw from somatic therapy (working with what your body holds), attachment-based approaches (understanding the relational patterns formed early in life), emotion-focused therapy, psychodynamic work, and narrative therapy.

What most of my approaches have in common is this: healing happens in relationship. Not in isolation, not through willpower, and not just by talking about the past. I work with what's happening in the room between us — the patterns, the defenses, the moments of real connection — because that's where real change occurs.

My style is direct and warm. I'll challenge you when it's useful, and I'll hold space when that's what you need. I take the work seriously, and I expect you to as well.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a conversation, not an intake form come to life. I want to understand what's actually going on for you — not just the presenting problem, but the full context of your life, your relationships, and what's brought you here now.

I'll ask real questions. We'll talk about what's been hard, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping for. By the end of the hour, you should have a clear sense of whether this feels like the right fit — and I'll share my honest thoughts on how I think I can help.

There's no pressure. First sessions are also just about seeing if we work well together. The relationship between therapist and client matters as much as anything else, and I want you to leave feeling clearer, not overwhelmed.
