Malky Shaulson

As a graduate of NYU, I was a therapist at the ODA Health Ctr in Bklyn, NY for 25 yrs and director of the SW dept for 10 of those 25 yrs, in addition to a private practice in Bklyn. I have now relocated my private practice to Lakewood, NJ.

The most important criteria for effective therapy is the trust and connection between therapist and client. I work with children, teens and adults providing a respectful, non-judgmental environment where one can laugh, cry and play in a safe environment.

My decades of experience has been influenced by my desire for understanding attachment processes, traumatic impressions and underlying motivations that maintain behaviors. To facilitate growth and change, I utilize numerous modalities, specializing in play therapy, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic theory, EMDR and Somatic Intervention.

My goal is for clients to develop a sense that they are not controlled by past or current experiences or the sensory and emotional imprint of trauma. Rather, they can cope with and grow from their experiences, feelings, beliefs and thoughts. Hopefully, the client will leave with a deeper connection to themselves, a greater belief in their unique abilities, an understanding of how the body records and reacts to stimuli, and a profound appreciation for their innermost strengths and sensitivities.
