Great to meet you!

Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Mamatha Cheong, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 13 years of experience in nursing and mental health care. I obtained my Master's in Nursing from Chamberlian University and Bacherlors in Science in Biology and Nursing from Long Island University in New York. My journey has taken me through a variety of settings, including community health centers, substance use treatment programs, outpatient clinics, and inpatient psychiatric units. This broad experience has equipped me to work compassionately and effectively with individuals from all walks of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to working with clients is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in mutual respect. I believe that healing and growth happen best in a safe and supportive environment, where you feel heard, validated, and empowered to take steps toward positive change.

I take the time to get to know you as a whole person—not just a diagnosis or set of symptoms. My style is warm, nonjudgmental, and attentive. I listen carefully to understand your concerns, values, and goals, and I tailor treatment to fit your unique needs. Whether you're managing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, or trauma-related conditions, we’ll work together to find strategies and tools that promote stability and well-being.

I specialize in medication management as part of a comprehensive care plan, but I also emphasize holistic approaches—considering how nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, relationships, and personal meaning affect your mental health. My goal is to help you feel more in control of your life and better equipped to cope with challenges.

You are the expert on your life, and I’m here to support you with clinical expertise, compassion, and a strong commitment to your healing journey.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave sessions with greater clarity, confidence, and a personalized plan for moving forward. My goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and supported—whether you're exploring new challenges or working through long-standing issues.

Together, we’ll develop practical strategies to manage your symptoms, improve your emotional well-being, and strengthen your ability to cope with life’s stressors. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of your mental health, your strengths, and how to navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, or behaviors more effectively.

In our work, I aim to foster resilience, self-awareness, and a sense of control over your healing process. Whether through medication management, supportive therapy, or lifestyle recommendations, our sessions are focused on empowering you to make meaningful progress toward your goals.
