Mamie Tisue

My professional training is in Clinical Social Work with specialized training in Somatic Experiencing, which incorporates physical symptoms and body awareness as part of the therapy process. I work best with clients who might be struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, traumatic stress and complex trauma. My background includes work in community mental health, crisis response, and collaboration with paramedics as a mental health first responder.

I incorporate the mind and the body into my therapy sessions. Foundational learning in Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing help inform the framework from which I approach my work with clients. My approach is warm, compassionate, and I challenge clients when I see opportunities to move toward goals that are brought to therapy.

Therapy goals are primarily set by clients based on presenting concerns brought to therapy. I work with clients to establish a safe and supportive relationship first and foremost. My goals for my work with clients include establishing and maintaining a space of safety, working at a pace that is appropriate for both the client and the therapeutic content, and providing a secure and regulated presence in the therapeutic relationship.
