Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. My name is Marangely (but I go by Mara), and I believe that empathy and understanding are at the heart of meaningful therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, welcomed, and truly heard, because trust and rapport are the foundation of our work together. I completed my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Carlos Albizu University in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, before moving to the U.S. in 2018 to continue my career. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey and have 8+ years of experience supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP). My background includes working with stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, women’s health, family and couple conflicts, work-related issues, life transitions, grief, sleep difficulties, domestic violence, trauma, PTSD, and more. I work with adults (18+) and also have extensive experience with the Hispanic/Latino community. Above all, I strive to ensure every client feels respected, supported, and empowered on their journey toward healing and growth. Despite the limited times for phone consultations, my availability for therapy sessions is as follow: Monday - Friday, from 9am - 7pm.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe that each person holds the capacity for growth and healing, and my role as a counselor is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences, emotions, thoughts, and challenges without judgment. I draw from evidence-based practices while tailoring therapy to your unique needs, values, beliefs, culture, and goals. Together, we will work to increase self-awareness, develop skills (such as coping or communication skills), and build on your strengths so that you can move toward greater clarity, resilience, and well-being.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we’ll begin by getting to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have, while also asking questions to better understand your story and background. We’ll talk about what you hope to gain from our work and discuss how I can best support you. This initial session is also a chance for you to ask me questions, learn about my approach, and see if the fit feels right for you. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and comfortable as we begin building the foundation for a therapeutic relationship centered on trust, collaboration, and growth.
