Great to meet you!

I have worked with children, families, parents and teachers for decades and frequently address need for balance, undo anxiety and relationships. I have two adult children who are thriving, two beloved dogs, and a husband of over 30 years. I am a resident of Central VA for over 40 years and aspire to a client centered and collaborative approach to counseling with a focus on identifying preferred solutions.

My approach to therapy

I believe that the most impactful part of therapy is the collaborative rapport created between the client and the therapist so that together they can identify clear hopes and treatment plans that are helpful for each particular client until one's desired outcomes and overall satisfaction are attained. We all have an internal resivior of attributes from which to draw upon, and there is nothing that we cannot grow through and be better for given our focused and joint efforts. I frequently use experience in Mindfulness as part of our collaborative efforts as well as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

What you can expect from me

Client's can expect to take a sense of empowerment, a more in-depth self-awareness, and overall agency from our sessions as well as a more refined way of tuning into a sense of worth and purpose. After a few weekly sessions in which we establish a rapport and find effective strategies we move to weekly and then monthly sessions or as needed. Clients often report improvement within 2 months.
