My approach in therapy is predominately Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I utilize this as well as a combination of other approaches and techniques (some examples are Solution Focused Therapy, and Family Focused Therapy) to tailor my modality to what is best fit for each client.
My belief is that we all have conscious and unconscious thinking patterns and automatic beliefs ingrained in us. Those beliefs shape how we see ourselves and the world. While there are things in life that we are unable to control, helping identify our automatic thoughts and beliefs both about ourself and the world in general will help us become aware of some underlying issues with our mental health. Often times these beliefs manifest themselves in anxiety, depression, anger, phobias, dysfunction in relationship, and even physical illness. Once these beliefs patterns are identified, change is possible. My goal is to create a safe space to foster that change and growth.
For couples work, I emphasize Gottman Techniques to address communication dysfunction, trust issues, infidelity, lack of emotional or sexual intimacy, working through past resentment, and ongoing frustrations with everyday life (breakdown of household chores, parenting, financial issues).
